How I knew Watermark was the place for me

I’m one of the founders! The other two founders are guys that I highly respect, first as men, and secondly as professionals, and I knew that because of their character, the way they value relationships, and the manner in which they serve their clients, I had to be associated with this group.

Favorite aspect of what I do

I enjoy working with a group of principle-centered people who highly value relationships inside and outside of the firm. There is great freedom in an environment with a high degree of trust and support, and it has encouraged me to venture into places that I otherwise might not have gone.

What inspires me, or what am I passionate about

Watching people “get it”. I get a kick out of people who, when stretched beyond their comfort zone, begin to see issues and situations in a new way, and find answers that they formerly could not have imagined.

I am inspired by people willing to take responsible risks – even when the ultimate outcome is unknown. I believe that you can only analyze a situation for so long, and then at some point, you must rely on your faith and step out boldly in the direction that you are being called. Life does not have to be “safe” and we all will face a point in time when we must act in faith or sadly turn from it. I am energized when I encounter people who have acted out of faith even when it did not make perfect sense at the time, and especially when it resulted in failure from the “world’s perspective”.

I also admire the passionate way that my partners approach life: in the way they work, in the manner they interact with their families, and in their commitment to changing the world.

I am ultimately inspired by my wife, who relentlessly cares for our family and encourages all of us “boys” to be more and accomplish more than we believe we can. She is a continual support to me and balances my “seat of the pants” approach.

When I’m not at work I’m probably…

I am probably watching a soccer match…either as a fan or as a referee. I would love to be found at Wrigley Field more frequently.
