How I knew Watermark was the place for me
I’ve known several of the people at Watermark for years, and was excited when the opportunity arose for me to join the firm. Being a part of a firm that focuses on both the professional and personal growth of its employees is very important to me. I’m also incredibly thankful that Watermark is involved with local charities and encourages the entire team to do the same.
Favorite aspect of what I do
I enjoy helping small business owners with their tax and accounting needs so that they can focus on what they do best – but I also love the fact that I am able to work with clients at a level that allows me to see all aspects of their business, develop close relationships, offer business consulting, and celebrate in their success.
What inspires me, or what am I passionate about
I love being involved in the community! I was the Treasurer of Impact 100, a collective women’s giving group, which opened the door for me to learn about other local not-for-profits in the area. I am currently a facilitator for Brooke’s Place, on the finance committee for Outside the Box, and the treasurer of Concerts for a Cause. I also volunteer for other local charities throughout the year. Being a part of a firm that supports community involvement is very important to me.
When I’m not at work I’m probably…
Spending time with friends and family, networking, volunteering at a local charity, hiking, camping, traveling, attending concerts, trying a new restaurant, touring a brewery or winery, baking cookies, or reading a book.
My Credos or favorite quotes
“We don’t have to engage in grand, heroic actions to participate in the process of change. Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world.” – Howard Zinn
“For every door that’s been open to me, I’ve tried to open my doors to others. And here is what I have to say: let’s invite one another in. Maybe then we can begin to fear less, to make fewer wrong assumptions, to let go of the biases and stereotypes that unnecessarily divide us. Maybe we can better embrace the ways we are the same. It’s not about being perfect. It’s not about where you get yourself in the end. There’s power in allowing yourself to be known and heard, in owning your unique story, and using your authentic voice. And there’s grace in being willing to know and hear others. This, for me, it’s how we become.” – Michelle Obama
